Liquid die forging can obtain high-performance parts with dense interior and no defects just like hot die forging. Compared with traditional solid hot die forging, liquid die forging has the outstanding advantage of wide applicability to materials and part structures, and is known as the "universal forging" technology. Liquid die forging materials are extensive. During the solidification process, all parts of liquid forgings are in a state of compressive stress, which is conducive to the flow of materials and the prevention of cracks. Therefore, they are basically not restricted by the plastic forming properties of the alloy. They can be used for both casting alloy forming and deformed alloys; they can be used for non-ferrous alloys such as aluminum, copper, magnesium, and zinc, and for ferrous metals such as steel and iron; they can be used for high-temperature metals such as nickel and cobalt, and for special materials such as composite materials and cast stone. Liquid die forgings have a wide range of structures, shapes and sizes. The wall thickness of liquid die forgings ranges from a few millimeters to tens of millimeters, and can be formed smoothly. Complex parts with a large difference in wall thickness can also be well-formed products through reasonable design of processes. Liquid die forging of various parts such as cup-shaped parts, wheel covers, fork seats, and boxes can be carried out. The process of liquid die forging is short. It does not require blanks, but uses external mechanical pressure to pressure process the molten metal, eliminating the cutting and heating of the blanks, and can form parts in one go, with significantly higher production efficiency than die forging. Liquid die forging is green and environmentally friendly. The liquid forging process consumes less material and can reuse waste materials. It does not require heating of the blanks in conventional die forging, and there is no oxidation and burning. The holes, grooves, tables and other structures of the parts can be easily formed, with small processing allowances and less process waste. The material utilization rate can be as high as 100%, and recycled materials can also be used for forming and manufacturing; the liquid die forging process equipment has a small tonnage and consumes less energy.
